The Libre Map Project has generated maps of each of the states using the 2000 Census data. The files are in SVG format on their website. They are copyrighted under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike License—so you can use and remix them so long as you provide attribution. However, if you want to use them you have to download each file separately. We’ve zipped them up for you to download.
The only program we have that will open SVG formatted files is Adobe Illustrator. Since you may not have that, we’ve also zipped up a folder of 288dpi PNGs for you to download. The Photoshop document we used to create them is also available for download.
You can learn the state names, their capitols, and their shapes at Learning Fundamentals.
